研究问题
Physical frailty has been linked to cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic (CKM) multimorbidity, but the role of cognitive frailty and its dynamic changes in CKM progression remains unclear.;These findings suggest that monitoring changes in cognitive function over time could help identify individuals at high risk of CKM multimorbidity, and that interventions aimed at improving cognitive health may need to achieve meaningful…
方法
This cohort study included participants aged ≥45 years from the CHARLS (2011-2018).;Among 9,816 participants, 3,836 were included in baseline CKM analysis and 1,891 in transition analysis.;In this study, we analysed data from nearly 10,000 middle-aged and older adults in China to understand whether cognitive frailty increases the risk of developing cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic (CKM) multimorbidity, a cluster of conditions…
核心结论
Both RCF (HR=2.74, 95%CI:2.25-3.34) and PRCF (HR=2.51, 95%CI:1.96-3.21) were associated with increased CKM risk (both P<0.001).;RCF-to-Robust improvement reduced CKM risk by 56% (HR=0.44, 95%CI:0.23-0.85, P=0.015), while deterioration markedly increased risk (HR≈5.3, P<0.001).;Substantial improvement (Δscore=-3) significantly reduced risk, whereas minor improvements showed protective trends without statistical significance.;Cognitive frailty is independently associated with CKM multimorbidity progression.;We found that people with cognitive frailty had significantly higher risks of developing CKM multimorbidity.;More importantly, we found that the magnitude of change in cognitive function added prognostic information on top of its direction-greater worsening tracked with higher CKM risk.
