研究问题
To test whether altering the number of imposed envi- ronmental cycles experienced per unit chronologi- cal time affects health biomarkers and lifespan, we compressed and expanded the photic cycle (T-cycle, combined light:dark length) by~10% relative to the 24-h day.;Whether the number of imposed environmental cycles experienced per unit chronological time influences aging in rodent models remains largely unknown.;Manipulation of circadian patterns via gradual, recurring expansion or contraction of the combined day/night length (photic, or T-cycle) to accelerate or decelerate the number of light:dark cycles and periods experienced during a fixed chronological time has not been evaluated for effects on mortality and longevity in mice.
方法
Mortality was measured daily, and survival was compared by Cox and linear mixed models (LMM).;All mice were group housed (n ≤ 3 mice/ cage) for the duration of the study in standard, ven- tilated mouse cages on an open rack system.;Study design Beginning at 8 weeks of age, the male C57BL/6 J mice were provided free access (ad libitum) to a defined diet based on AIN-93G (65.1% kcal car- bohydrate, 16.4% kcal fat, and 18.8% protein [calo- rie: 3.89 kcal/g]; TestDiet, Richmond, IN, USA, Table S1).

局限
Acrophase out- comes should be interpreted cautiously due to differ- ences in lights-on timing among the T-cycle groups during the defined periods of measure.;However, when additionally adjusting for body GeroScience Vol:.
