研究问题

These mechanisms may be relevant in specific contexts, particularly among women exposed to high-impact or high-volume physical activity, although their overall contribution remains unclear [8].;Sometimes I feel uncomfortable.“— (Athlete 06). “If I have to wear a pad for it… I’m not sure whether it would show through.;Friends who were medical students or healthcare professionals were particularly valued; they provided clinically credible information in an informal, non-judgmental setting, bypassing the embarrassment of a formal consultation. “I learned about pelvic floor exercise from a friend studying medicine (peer education as primary knowledge source).” — (Recreationally active 05, Engineering student). “I’d probably ask my younger sister first, she works at a hospital, whether she thinks I need to see a specialist.” — (Recreationally active 03).

方法

Although more commonly linked to aging, UUI has also been observed in younger women, and it has been hypothesized that physiological stress related to intensive training may contribute to autonomic imbalance and abnormal bladder function [10], although evidence in younger populations remains limited.Beyond symptom occurrence, urinary incontinence in young women is often under-recognized and underreported, particularly among physically active individuals in whom symptoms may be perceived as a normal consequence of exercise [11].;The quantitative component consisted of a cross-sectional survey conducted among young women in Thailand using an online, self-administered questionnaire.;Participants were categorized into three groups based on physical activity levels: sedentary, recreationally active, and athletes, according to predefined criteria adapted from prior literature.EthicsThis study was approved by the Human Research Ethics Committee of the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University (MURA2025/892), and conducted in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki. For the quantitative component, participants provided electronic informed consent via the first page of the online questionnaire before accessing the study questions.

核心结论

However, growing evidence indicates that UI is not limited to older or parous women.;Between-group differences were assessed using one-way ANOVA or Kruskal–Wallis tests for continuous variables, and Pearson’s chi-squared test for categorical variablesBMI body mass index, PFMT pelvic floor muscle training Prevalence and subtypes of urinary incontinenceOverall, 142 participants (30.8%) reported urinary incontinence within this previously undiagnosed population.;Regular PFMT practice was also associated with reduced odds of quality-of-life impact (adjusted OR 0.46, 95% CI 0.22–0.89; p = 0.027).Pelvic floor knowledge proficiencyOverall, 148 participants (32%) were classified as having proficient knowledge of pelvic floor health.

局限

However, growing evidence indicates that UI is not limited to older or parous women.;In recent years, UI has been increasingly reported among young women, including those engaging in high-impact or vigorous physical activity; however, findings across studies remain inconsistent [4, 5].;Repetitive loading of the pelvic floor has been proposed as a potential mechanism contributing to stress urinary incontinence in certain high-impact athletic populations; however, its role in overall urinary incontinence risk among young women remains uncertain [6].The underlying mechanisms of SUI are largely attributed to repeated increases in intra-abdominal pressure, which impose excessive strain on the pelvic floor muscles and urethral support structures [7].
