研究问题
They reflect a gap that exists across clinical settings, between what genomic science already knows and what actually happens when a patient walks into a clinic.;This review is written to address that gap directly, with a particular focus on the Indian population and the underexplored regulatory gene GLIS3.;However, interpatient genetic heterogeneity limits the universal applicability of such standardized protocols.
方法
Search terms included combinations of the following: “pharmacogenomics,” “diabetes mellitus,” “MODY,” “GLIS3,” “precision medicine,” “maturity-onset diabetes of the young,” “SLC22A1,” “PPARG,” “metformin pharmacogenetics,” “beta-cell dysfunction,” “Indian population genomics,” and “polygenic risk scores.” Additional searches were conducted specifically for GLIS3-related studies using terms including “GLIS3 neonatal diabetes,” “GLIS3 Type 1 diabetes,” “GLIS3 Type 2 diabetes,” “GLIS3 beta-cell,” and “GLIS3 South Asian populations.” Studies were included if they (i) reported original pharmacogenomic data in diabetes; (ii) reviewed gene-drug interactions relevant to antidiabetic therapy; (iii) described clinical outcomes in monogenic or polygenic diabetes in relation to genetic variants; or (iv) provided population-specific genomic data with relevance to Indian or South Asian cohorts.
核心结论
A significant number of people develop diabetes despite having a healthy weight, a good diet, and an active lifestyle.;Because in many cases, the real driver is not what they ate or how much they exercised.;This represents a clinically significant observation that modern diabetes care has been slow to fully incorporate. ‖ 结论:The implementation of these strategies warrants serious policy and clinical consideration.
局限
The implementation of these strategies warrants serious policy and clinical consideration.
