研究问题
Under such circumstances, TOC remains one of the most important preparation variables that needs utmost diagnostic considerations [–].;By contrast, three-dimensional (3D) printing techniques such as stereolithography, digital light processing, and material jetting enable additive fabrication of PCs and have been reported to produce marginal discrepancy in the range of 30–130 μm, although restoration accuracy remains sensitive to printing orientation and surface location [].;Some studies have shown that 3D-printed crowns perform better than milled crowns in selected regions while still demonstrating marginal variability (e.g., 57–132 μm buccal gaps) [].
方法
The study protocol was approved by the ethical review committee of the College of Dentistry, Jazan University (Reference No.;The specimens were allocated into two principal fabrication workflow groups: milled PMMA PCs fabricated from CopraTemp discs (n = 40) and 3D‑printed PCs fabricated from Asiga Dentatooth resin (n = 40) (Fig. ).;The CAD/CAM milled and 3D-printed PC fabrication procedures, from basic designing to physical PC making, followed technically different protocols due to distinct respective manufacturer recommendations.;PMMA disks (CopraTemp White, shade A2; Peaks Dental Solutions GmbH, Wesel, Germany; 98/14 mm) were milled (n = 20 per TOC) on a DGSHAPE machine (Roland DGA, Irvine, CA, USA) under wet conditions with new HSS milling tools (1–2 mm wide, 5° rake/2° clearance) as per manufacturer guidelines.
核心结论
Within the milled subgroup structure, the descriptive pattern suggested that increasing TOC and larger ARF geometry were associated with less favorable marginal fit; however, the statistical interpretation of these subgroup differences was based on the workflow/preparation-design ART model rather than on subgroup medians alone (Tables ).;Material showed statistically significant effects on buccal marginal discrepancy (F = 6.851, p = 0.011, partial η2 = 0.087) and distal marginal discrepancy (F = 5.008, p = 0.028, partial η2 = 0.065), both representing medium effect magnitudes.;Conversely, the main effect of preparation design was not statistically significant for buccal (p = 0.095, partial η2 = 0.084), mesial (p = 0.366, partial η2 = 0.043), lingual (p = 0.363, partial η2 = 0.043), or distal surfaces (p = 0.560, partial η2 = 0.028) (Table ). ‖ 结论:These findings are limited to pre-cementation vertical marginal discrepancy and should not be extrapolated to comprehensive 3D adaptation outcomes without further evaluation.
局限
This distinction is particularly relevant in short-crown preparations with groove and box features, where access limitations, resin bulk distribution, stair-step formation, and finishing-related edge loss may affect marginal adaptation differently.;Our findings on 3D printing indicated a more favorable descriptive marginal adaptation pattern in several printed subgroups, particularly at mesial, lingual, and overall subgroup summaries; however, these advantages were clearer in subgroup-level analyses than in the ART model and therefore should be interpreted cautiously.;The apparent disagreement between the present findings and studies favoring milled restorations should be interpreted cautiou
