研究问题
Factors such as usability, accessibility, digital infrastructure, organizational readiness, clinician workload, caregiver support, and integration into clinical workflows may influence whether older adults’ intention to use digital healthcare services is translated into actual use.;These access costs may be particularly relevant for low-income older adults and may influence whether intention to use digital healthcare services is translated into actual use.;Future research should examine how socioeconomic status and affordability shape digital healthcare engagement among older adults.Future research should also consider using objective behavioral measures or digital usage data to supplement self-reported responses and strengthen empirical validity.
方法
Trained interviewers visited participants’ homes and conducted face-to-face surveys with community-dwelling adults aged 65 years or older using a structured questionnaire.;Written informed consent was obtained from all participants before the face-to-face interview was conducted.Variables and measurementsDigital literacy, the independent variable, was measured using the Functional Assessment of Currently Employing Technology Scale (FACETS). 39 The scale includes 10 items assessing how frequently older adults engage in technology-related activities (e.g., sending emails, online banking, using social networking services).;The scale showed excellent internal consistency (Cronbach’s α = .901).Technostress, the mediating variable, was measured using 14 items from Nimrod. 40 The items assess the extent to which individuals experience stress related to technology use (e.g., “Using digital devices causes more problems than I would like”).
核心结论
However, significant disparities remain: older adults’ digital competency is only 71.4% of the national average, making them the most digitally vulnerable group. 3 These findings underscore the urgent need to strengthen digital capabilities among older adults to foster a more inclusive digital society. 4 Beyond access to digital devices, digital inequality among older adults increasingly manifests as gaps in the ability to effectively use digital technologies for essential life domains, including healthcare.;The scale demonstrated excellent internal consistency (Cronbach’s α = .929).;These findings indicate that higher digital literacy lowers technostress and enhances technology self-efficacy, which in turn increases older adults’ intention to use digital healthcare services. To further examine age-related heterogeneity, additional age-stratified analyses were conducted by dividing participants into young-old adults aged 65–74 years and old-old adults aged 75 years and older.
