研究问题

In the present study, we investigated the skin microbiota of a total of 304 healthy volunteers from two distinct age groups using 16S rRNA sequencing.

方法

In the present study, we investigated the skin microbiota of a total of 304 healthy volunteers from two distinct age groups using 16S rRNA sequencing.;OMVs derived from B. fragilis or EVs from S. epidermidis (10 μg in 100 μL volume of PBS) were administered to the skin surface 2 h prior to the application of bacteria (n = 4 for each group).;The strains used in this study were randomly selected.

核心结论

Statistical analysis is by unpaired two-tailed t test. ∗∗∗∗p < 0.0001.;B. fragilis was grown anaerobically in BHI-S (BHI with 0.5% yeast extract and 0.1% cysteine) for 24 h. ‖ 结论:Our comparative microbiota analyses revealed that Bacteroidota, despite their low relative abundance, exert non-negligible functional influence on skin microbial ecology.

局限

Future work will focus on identifying the specific OMV-associated components released by skin-isolated Bacteroides species that initiate autophagosome formation, through integrated proteomic and lipidomic profiling of purified OMVs.;However, 16S rRNA gene sequencing cannot establish the viability, species identity, stable colonization, or anatomical origin of the detected Bacteroides signal; transient environmental deposition and gut-to-skin transfer of Bacteroides species, therefore, cannot be excluded.;Here, we propose a preliminary model in which the anaerobic bacterium Bacteroides induces autophagy through the release of OMVs to clear Pseudomonadota from the skin.
