研究问题
However, previous evidence addressed a single domain in a single pair or small group of professions, so it remains unclear, in practice, which professions are prepared in which geriatric competencies, and where training gaps across the whole care team should be prioritised [13].;We focused on perceived Knowledge, Relevance and Interest because these dimensions capture complementary aspects of educational need: what professionals believe they know, how relevant they perceive a topic to be for their practice and whether they are interested in further training.;Our aim was to provide empirical evidence on how different professional groups perceive their preparedness for geriatric care, recognising that perceived Knowledge, Relevance and Interest represent necessary, but not sufficient, conditions for effective interprofessional practice.
方法
This fragmented picture contrasts with policy frameworks that call for coordinated, whole-team approaches to older adult care [19], underscoring that the tools for measuring and targeting training needs have not kept pace with policy ambition. To address this gap, we conducted an analysis of a multinational multilingual web-based survey assessing health and social care professionals’ perceived Knowledge, Relevance and Interest across key domains required for CGA and interprofessional geriatric practice [22].;We focused on perceived Knowledge, Relevance and Interest because these dimensions capture complementary aspects of educational need: what professionals believe they know, how relevant they perceive a topic to be for their practice and whether they are interested in further training.;First, we hypothesised that perceived Knowledge, Relevance and Interest would differ across professional groups and between professionals working in the 27 Member States of the European Union (EU-27) and those working outside the EU-27.
核心结论
These findings may inform tiered interprofessional curricula: foundational CGA content for low Knowledge-high Interest groups, and advanced team-based learning for higher Knowledge groups.;These findings should be interpreted as descriptive differences in perceived Knowledge, Relevance and Interest, not as evidence of differences in the quality of professional education, since the survey did not collect information on the mechanisms underlying them.;Finally, we did not examine whether professional experience or other individual-level characteristics contributed to the observed differences.Implications for interprofessional education and curriculum designThese findings provide a concrete, needs-based foundation for interprofessional geriatric education.
局限
However, previous evidence addressed a single domain in a single pair or small group of professions, so it remains unclear, in practice, which professions are prepared in which geriatric competencies, and where training gaps across the whole care team should be prioritised [13].;These findings should be interpreted as descriptive differences in perceived Knowledge, Relevance and Interest, not as evidence of differences in the quality of professional education, since the survey did not collect information on the mechanisms underlying them.;However, because this study did not assess clinical decision-making or patient outcomes, findings should not be interpreted as evidence for specific referral or triage strategies.Strengths and limitationsThis study is one of the largest multinational multilingual surveys on perceived geriatric educational needs; its direct capture of professionals’ self-identified educational priorities may help align training with perceived clinical needs; combining ANOVA, hierarchical clustering and LCA gave a characterisation of professional profiles unattainable through any single analytical method.
