研究问题

Hip fracture represents a longstanding and significant public health challenge, particularly in China, where rapid population aging has amplified it’s impacts.;However, the treatment of hip fractures is costly and associated with poor prognoses [–].;The burden imposed on healthcare systems and social services by hip fractures poses a formidable challenge.

方法

CHARLS targets Chinese individuals aged 45 years and older, along with their spouses, covering a broad range of domains including demographic information, health status, functioning, retirement, and pensions.;The baseline survey (Wave 1) was conducted between June 2011 and March 2012, with follow-up surveys occurring biennially.;For this study, the baseline population included participants from Wave 1 who were aged 60 years or older.;From 2011 onward, this longitudinal study tracked participants over a 10-year follow-up period.

核心结论

Participants with cognitive frailty were older and more likely to be female, living in rural areas, and with lower educational levels compared with robust individuals.;In terms of body mass index, individuals with cognitive frailty were more frequently underweight or within the normal range, and less likely to be overweight.;With respect to health conditions, participants with cognitive frailty had a higher prevalence of memory-related disease, arthritis, lung disease, digestive disease, and a history of falls. ‖ 结论:These findings suggest that cognitive frailty may serve as a meaningful composite marker for identifying individuals at high risk of hip fracture.

局限

To our knowledge, this study is among the first to systematically evaluate the long-term predictive value of cognitive frailty for hip fracture risk within a large, community-based cohort, utilizing both cross-sectional and longitudinal analytical frameworks.;A notable cross-sectional study conducted in 2018 [], involving 10,202 older adults, reported that cognitive frailty was significantly associated with fall-related fractures (OR = 1.92, 95% CI: 1.20–3.08), which is consistent with our findings.;First, it utilized a nationally representative sample from CHARLS, enhancing the generalizability and reliability of the findings to the broader older Chinese population.

对本项目的价值
