研究问题

Nevertheless, studies that stratify older age groups to examine age-specific vulnerability in the context of climate change remain limited.;This study aims to synthesize peer-reviewed evidence on the health impacts of climate change among older adults in the WPR.;Overall, 4 of the 11 cases (36%) showed evidence of increasing vulnerability with age, while among the two cases that compared subgroups within older adults (Tier 3), no significant differences were observed. a22,a45 In air pollution, findings were mixed across cases, with results sometimes diverging on whether vulnerability increased with age.

方法

2 , 19 A search was conducted across PubMed, Scopus, and Embase combining keyword clusters for climate change, older adults, and the WPR using the Boolean operator AND ( Table A1 ).;Eligibility criteria Eligible studies quantitatively assessed the association between climate-related threats and health outcomes among older adults within the WPR, reported in comparable terms.;Study selection and data extraction Study selection was conducted in two stages: (1) title and abstract screening and (2) full-text review.

局限

However, rapid population aging in the Western Pacific Region (WPR) has highlighted the need to move beyond defining older adults simply as those aged 65 years and above, and to consider heterogeneity of vulnerability within older populations.;For instance, young-old adults may not differ substantially from the general adult population, potentially masking the specific vulnerabilities of old–old adults, who are generally frailer and more physiologically and socially susceptible to the adverse effects of extreme climatic conditions.
