研究问题
Despite these advances, the influence of metabolic factors on TMJOA remains poorly understood.;Therefore, the primary objective of this study was to investigate the association between systemic metabolic indicators and TMJOA by comparing metabolic profiles between affected patients and clinic-based controls.;Specifically, we aimed to identify the metabolic indicators related to TMJOA that may be informative for clinical assessment.
方法
This study was approved by the Human Research Ethics Committee of Shanghai Ninth People’s Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine (Approval No.;The approval was subsequently renewed to cover data collection and analysis up to 2026, and informed consent was obtained from all participants or their legal guardians prior to enrollment.;Participants were consecutively recruited from patients presenting with TMJ-related complaints at the TMJ-Orthodontic Clinic, Department of Oral Surgery, Shanghai Ninth People’s Hospital between January 2024 and July 2025.;The exclusion criteria were as follows: (1) presence of systemic diseases, particularly autoimmune disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, or psychological conditions including anxiety and depression; (2) history of maxillofacial developmental abnormalities, trauma, or severe infection involving the mandible or TMJ; (3) de
核心结论
The inter‑rater agreement for the CBCT‑based diagnosis of TMJOA between the two specialists was excellent, with a Cohen’s kappa of 0.81 (95% CI: 0.741–0.879, p < 0.001).;After assessment of multicollinearity, the results of univariate logistic regression analysis were shown in Table , and the initial multivariable logistic regression model (Supplementary Table S4) was then reduced using AIC-based stepwise selection to obtain the final model (Table ).;In the final model, higher UA levels were associated with an increased likelihood of TMJOA, whereas higher HDL-C and P1NP levels were associated with a lower likelihood of TMJOA. ‖ 结论:The potential clinical implications of metabolic assessment and multidisciplinary care warrant confirmation in prospective studies with broader populations.
局限
UA remained independently associated with TMJOA after adjustment for major confounders, whereas higher HDL-C and P1NP levels were associated with a lower likelihood of disease.;However, given the cross-sectional design of this study, these associations should be interpreted with caution, and causal relationships cannot be established.;However, this finding should be interpreted with caution, given the wide confidence intervals observed in the RCS analysis, which likely reflect the limited statistical precision of estimates.
