研究问题
Late-onset eating disorders are often triggered by psychosocial stressors such as grief, caregiving responsibilities, and social isolation, and in women, biological changes such as menopause may accompany this process.;While depression, anxiety, and medical comorbidities are common, low BMI, presence of concomitant diseases, chronic course, and poor adherence to treatment are associated with worse outcomes [ ].
方法
Statistical analysis All statistical data were analyzed using IBM SPSS 22.0 (The Statistical Package for Social Sciences-SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA).;Sample size calculation was performed using G*Power 3.1.9.7 software with a two-tailed α level of 0.05 and 80% statistical power.;Measurements were performed while participants were standing and were instructed to squeeze the dynamometer with maximal effort.
核心结论
According to these results, higher total EDE-Q scores were associated with greater odds of frailty (OR = 1.079, 95% CI: 1.005–1.159, p = 0.036), although the association was relatively modest and should be interpreted cautiously.;In contrast, binge eating score, gender, and BMI were not significantly associated with frailty status ( p > 0.05).;As shown in Table , pre-frail/frail individuals had significantly higher median scores on the “thoughts about body shape and weight” subscale than non-frail participants.;Because frailty is associated with loss of function in organs and systems, the decrease in functionality is more significant than the decrease in muscle mass [ ].;Conclusion In conclusion, eating disorders or disordered eating behaviors may be associated with frailty risk in older adults and may be related to nutrient intake and body composition characteristics.
局限
However, given the cross-sectional design and the modest magnitude of the observed association, further longitudinal studies are needed to clarify the nature and clinical significance of this relationship.;However, given the modest effect size and borderline statistical significance observed in this study, these findings should be interpreted cautiously and confirmed in larger prospective studies.
