研究问题

TRUS is widely used in clinical practice and remains the most common imaging modality due to its cost-effectiveness and accessibility, despite its limitations in accurately distinguishing BPH from prostate cancer.

方法

Images were cropped to isolate the prostate and remove background water artifacts, followed by contrast and brightness adjustments to improve visualization similar to Pathour et al.

核心结论

For comparison, Dice scores of 0.755 were obtained at both 20 and 50 epochs, while performance slightly decreased to 0.748 at 150 epochs, suggesting diminishing returns beyond 100 epochs.;The relatively high recall suggests that the model effectively identifies most stromal tissue regions, though the slightly lower precision indicates a tendency toward mild over-segmentation in challenging or low-contrast regions.;Overall, these findings demonstrate that SAM2 can extract stromal tissue features from ultrasound images despite inherent noise, texture variability, and limited dataset size. ‖ 结论:These findings highlight the potential of deep learning-based models to support noninvasive prostate tissue characterization.

局限

While segmentation performance remains constrained by limited dataset size and specimen heterogeneity, these findings provide a proof-of-concept of using deep learning-based segmentation for stroma detection on ultrasound images.;Nevertheless, this study has several limitations.;The small number of ex-vivo specimens limited the generalizability.
