研究问题

Therefore, it remains unclear whether the magnitude of the association with frailty differs across overall CCD, advanced atrioventricular conduction disease, and bundle branch or fascicular conduction disorders.Accordingly, we examined the association of physical frailty, assessed using a modified Fried phenotype, with incident CCD in 423,162 UK Biobank participants without cardiovascular disease (CVD), cardiac conduction disorder (CCD), or pacemaker implantation at baseline.;We hypothesized that progressively greater frailty would be associated with higher risks of incident CCD and its clinically relevant subtypes.

方法

Recent UK Biobank analyses and cardiovascular cohorts suggest that frailty provides risk information across cardiovascular and cardiovascular–kidney–metabolic conditions (12–15).;Therefore, it remains unclear whether the magnitude of the association with frailty differs across overall CCD, advanced atrioventricular conduction disease, and bundle branch or fascicular conduction disorders.Accordingly, we examined the association of physical frailty, assessed using a modified Fried phenotype, with incident CCD in 423,162 UK Biobank participants without cardiovascular disease (CVD), cardiac conduction disorder (CCD), or pacemaker implantation at baseline.;In addition, we evaluated severe conduction block and left bundle branch or fascicular block as prespecified secondary outcomes.

核心结论

Therefore, identifying individuals at increased risk before a clinically overt conduction disease develops remains clinically relevant (2).Recent studies suggest that conduction disease may be influenced by systemic and potentially modifiable risk states (3–5).;Recent UK Biobank analyses and cardiovascular cohorts suggest that frailty provides risk information across cardiovascular and cardiovascular–kidney–metabolic conditions (12–15).;These findings suggest that physical frailty may identify a subgroup with higher conduction disease risk before overt functional decline is fully established. This study extends recent prevention-oriented work on conduction disease (2–5).

局限

However, conduction system disease was evaluated as one component of a broader arrhythmia analysis, and clinically distinct conduction outcomes were not examined separately.;Therefore, it remains unclear whether the magnitude of the association with frailty differs across overall CCD, advanced atrioventricular conduction disease, and bundle branch or fascicular conduction disorders.Accordingly, we examined the association of physical frailty, assessed using a modified Fried phenotype, with incident CCD in 423,162 UK Biobank participants without cardiovascular disease (CVD), cardiac conduction disorder (CCD), or pacemaker implantation at baseline.;However, its incremental predictive value for conduction outcomes still requires formal evaluation. The recent UK Biobank study by Zhang et al.
