研究问题
Therefore, we aim to bridge this gap by reporting the ADR of symptomatic patients undergoing diagnostic colonoscopy and describing the morphological charac- teristics and associations of adenomatous polyps.
方法
Methods Study design We conducted a retrospective observational study involving symptomatic patients undergoing lower alimentary endoscopy from 1st January 2021 to April 2024 at Asiri Surgical Hospital.;Histological reports of study participants were subsequently traced.;We used the term adenoma prevalence for the overall adenoma detection rate for the entire cohort irrespective of age as a secondary outcome [17].
核心结论
In contrast to Western populations where CRC and adenomas have begun to show a right colon predominance [29,30], we found adenomas mostly in the sigmoid, descending and transverse regions, similar to other Asian populations [8,31,32].
局限
These ADR benchmarks were derived from asymptomatic Western populations, which may not be extrapolatable without adjustments to symptomatic populations.;However, this benchmark was largely derived from screening populations, and its applicability to symptomatic diagnostic colonoscopy populations remains uncertain [17].
